This is the 5th in a triennial series of workshops that focus on experiment and theory on cooling, trapping, and applications of ultracold Group II atomic species (Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ra, Zn, Cd, Hg) and related species such as Yb. These workshops explore experimental methods, precision measurement and spectroscopy, and atomic and molecular properties and collisions.
Optical frequency atomic clocks have long been a topic at these workshops. More recent topics involve quantum degenerate gases, optical lattices, and applications to quantum information and condensed matter physics.
The conference serves as an international forum for researchers to extensively discuss the latest ideas, developments and applications. For your reference, the website of the previous workshop in 2009 can be found at http://jqi.umd.edu/workshop/workshop.html
