Following members will attend the conference from Kashima. Tetsuro Kondo Junichi Nakajima Mamoru Sekido Tomonari Suzuyama Yasuhiro Koyama The starting time of 21:00 UT is fine with us. It is 6:00 in the morning in Japan. We can share one line as we did in the previous meetings. I will forward the comments from Japanese group to your e-mail messages dated on April 21, and 24. Nakajima-san prepared this message based on discussions in the Kashima group members and he wanted Kondo-san to review the comments before he send this message to you. Unfortunately, Kondo-san suffered an eye sickness and the message has not been sent to you until today. I am sorry the response from us became late. In short, we agree all items you raised in your last messages. For the selection of the RJ45 pin assignment for the serial communication, we are suggesting to use DB9 or DB25 to avoid a possibility to plug-in Ethernet cable to the comm-port by accident. It will also avoid confusion between two possible pin-assignment to the RJ45 connector. This is the final item which we need to respond. awhitney> EIA-232 compatible, I'm going to leave it to you guys on this one. awhitney> Please let me have your vote. Japanese group vote DB-9 connector for EIA-232 connection. A engineer suggested us that possibly troubles will occur in miss conection between the 232 and an ether with same RJ45 connector. Even without hardware malfunction, users who connected lines to a different port get troubles in his VSI control. We are looking forward to have the complete VSI-H specification document and the final approval. Thank you all related colleagues who build up this ideal interface. Especially good luck to you, Rick Wietfeldt-san. Ten days from this weekend are spring holidays in Japan. Most of us will abesent from our location for a while. Sincerely yours, Junichi Nakajima
