1964 / May Kashima branch was founded.
  First satellite communication between Japan and USA by Relay II.
1964 / October International relay broadcasting of Tokyo Olympic Games by Syncom-III satellite.
1977 / January First domestic VLBI experiment by K-1 system.
1978 / May Experiment using Japanese CS (Communication Satellite).
1978 / July Experiment using Japanese BS (Broadcasting Satellite).
1983 / November First VLBI experiment between Japan and US by K-3 system.
1985 / November Pacific plate motion was firstly observed by VLBI.
1987 / November ETS-V/EMSS experiment for mobile satellite communication.
1988 / March 34m antenna for VLBI was constructed.
1988 / April Radio Research Laboratory was renamed Communications Research Laboratory.
1990 / January First Antarctica VLBI experiment .
1998 / July COMETS satellite experiment for advanced communications and broadcasting.
2000 / July Full process of crustal deformation due to the earthquakes and volcanic activities at Izu islands was observed by the Kashima-Tateyama VLBI baseline.
2001 / April CRL became the Independent Administrative Institution.
2002 / June 3-HDTV Panorama Video Transmission Experiment for 2002 FIFA World Cup.
2004 / April TAO and CRL was reorganized as the "National Institute of Information and Communications Technology"
2004 / December First Helicopter-Satellite Communication Experiment
