About the conference
| After four successful editions held in France (2003), Singapore (2004), Canada (2005), United Kingdom (Northern Ireland) ICOST (2006), ICOST(2007) aims to continue to develop an active research community dedicated to explore how Smart Homes and Health Telematics can foster independent living and offer an enhanced quality of life for ageing and people with disabiilties. |
| Each year, ICOST has a specific flavour. ICOST2003 focused on usability. The theme was "Independent living for persons with disabilities and elderly people". The theme for ICOST2004 was "Towards a Human-Friendly Assistive Environment". ICOST2005 theme was "From Smart Homes to Smart Care" and ICOST2006 theme was "Smart Homes and Beyond". ICOST2007 will focus on Sustainable Society with Quality of Life Enhancement with the theme "Pervasive Computing Perspectives for Quality of Life Enhancement". This focuses on promoting pervasive computinjg in extending the quality of life. |
Future schedule of journal publication
| ICOST Scientific Committee is planning to publish a special issue with a theme on "assistive services in ubiquitous smart home environments" from IJARM (International Journal of Assistive Robotics and Mechatronics) based on the outstanding papers from ICOST 2007. |
