A theater at the facility is available to aid in understanding the meaning of remote sensing, which is at the forefront of global environmental monitoring technology.
Remote sensing is a technology for observing atmospheric and ocean circulation from far away by the use radio waves and light. This technology is integral to observation of the functioning of the global environment, a very broad field still filled with unknowns. In this exhibition booth supplied with up-to-date data, you can observe the movement of global air and water and gain an understanding of the role played by remote-sensing technology through a combination of pictures and models.
Observe the earth by means of radio waves and light: remote sensing
In the center of this exhibition area is a dome-shaped theater, 7.8 meters in diameter, designed to look as the earth appears from space. The theater will introduce you to the science of observing atmospheric and ocean circulation on a global scale through a combination of pictures on a monitor and a model accompanied by narration. Reduced models of various sensors and an illuminated ceiling are also featured.
Eyes observing the earth: remote sensing
The purpose and meaning of remote sensing are introduced in an animated film. The characters are a boy and a knowledgeable shisa, or a lion-dog. Your shisa guide comments that the objective of the remote sensing system is to take care of the earth in the same way a doctor cares for a patient.
