Effect of an electromagnetic wave absorber on 300-GHz short-range wireless communications

In this paper, a 300-GHz short-range wireless data transmission is demonstrated, with
considering antenna-performance variation due to surrounding conditions. For that, a λ/4-
type absorber with a resistive film is employed to decrease the antenna-performance
variation in the short-range wireless link. By adopting it, bit error rate of the demodulated
signal (quadrature phase shift keying, 6 Gb/s) is improved from 5.3⨯ 10− 6 to 2.8⨯ 10− 6 at
the carrier frequency of 272 GHz (distance: 1 cm).
