We experimentally investigate intra-and intermodal nonlinear signal degradation in a 36 km
few-mode fiber based space-division multiplexed transmission system. We find that both,
intra-and intermodal cross-phase modulation lead to equally strong Q-factor penalties of up
to 8 dB.
