We review our latest contributions towards the development of long-distance transmission
systems using homogeneous single-mode multi-core fibers supported by high-order MIMO
for crosstalk mitigation. These include the use of high-order MIMO to mitigate the crosstalk
impact assisted by inter-core skew compensation to manage the temporal extent of the
system impulse response.
