The station movements obtained by VLBI and GPS are compared at the domestic observation network in Japan. CRL concucted the VLBI observation in the Crustal Deformation Monitoring System for Tokyo Metropolitan Area (KSP) with 4 stations. In this KSP, the daily VLBI observations started since January, 1995 and SLR observations started since October 1997. There are other GPS stations near KSP stations constructed by GSI as the dense GPS network in Japan. The KSP is a useful test-bed to compare the VLBI and GPS data. At first, we compared the quality of the VLBI and GPS data using the variation of the mean values during various intervals. The observation errors for 24 hours VLBI experiments in the mode of 256Mbps is almost the same as the errors of GPS data for a 100Km observation network. However, the variations of VLBI data in the terms longer than one month is slightly better than GPS data. The variations are about 1-2mm r.m.s. for horizontal movements. Secondly we investigate the patterns of the horizontal movements obtained by VLBI and GPS data. Although there are small concident variations, but the patterns of the variations are different in general. We show the disagreement and the coincidence of VLBI and GPS data.
