Lecturer "Sub-natural spectroscopy by recurrent excitation"
Speaker Kazuyuki NAKAYAMA Ph.D.

Abstract Reducing the broadened atomic resonance line is one of the important subjects in spectroscopy. There are some methods to obtain so-called sub-natural spectra, whose widths are much narrower than the natural line widths. Ramsey fringes and selective detection of long living atom states, using phase modulation techniques are the well known methods. In the colloquium we will report the recurrent excitation spectroscopy (RES), which is based on the iterative excitation using the atomic response, and a new type of sub-natural spectroscopy based on RES.
