/ lipid bi-layer on silicon substrate and its application tobiosensor”
Speaker Prof. Tsuneo Urisu

Abstract Membrane proteins including ion channels and GPCR are very important materials for creation of new medicines in post-genom. However, basic and applied researches for biosensors and bio-tips have not been studied sufficiently. In the case of membrane proteins, they show their functions only in a lipid bi-layer. Their generation, purification, and reconstruction processes are still risky subject in basic research. On the other hand, this subject becomes one of the hot topics as a supportedmembrane in Europe and USA. In our group, we had began to study forming membrane/lipid bilayer accumulated structure and have recently succeeded to form a tethered supported membrane and to reconstruct porin in lipid bi-layer. I will review the progress of basic techniques for fabrication of biosensor in Japan, Europe, and USA.
