    Participation in the OECD Global Strategic Group

    From October 14 to 17, Dr. HARAYAMA Yuko, Secretary General of the GPAI Tokyo Expert Support Center visited France (Paris) to participate in a side event of the OECD Global Strategy Group (GSG) and to exchange views with the OECD Secretariat along with the Montreal Expert Support Centre at CEIMIA (Canada) and the Paris Expert Support Centre at Inria (France).

    The side event titled "Evolution to Trustworthy AI: Business Sector Innovations for the Future", was held from 14 to 15, CEIMIA, Inria and Tokyo ESC set up a joint booth at the invitation of the Government of Canada, current chair of the GSG. During the animation of the booth, the Tokyo ESC introduced its SAFE project, which is positioned as a central activity of the Tokyo ESC.

    Secretary General Harayama spoke along with CEIMIA’s Executive Director, Ms. Sophie Fallaha, and Inria’s Executive Director, Ms. Aurélie Simard, highlighting how the GPAI, which is now an integral part with the OECD AI, will continue to contribute to international cooperation on AI governance.

    The booth was visited by a large number of people, including Ambassador Madeleine Chenette, Permanent Representative of Canada to the OECD and Ambassador Amélie de Montchalin, Permanent Representative of France to the OECD. Additionally, several OECD member country officials, business representatives, and AI professionals have visited and exchanged about GPAI's activities.

    After the side event, a seminar between the three ESCs was held at Inria office from the 15 to the 17. This three-day session allowed each ESCs to share their initiatives and discuss the role of the Network of ESCs in the new integrated partnership GPAI/OECD. During the seminar, discussion on the preparations for the Tokyo Innovation Workshop, the GPAI Summit in Serbia, the AI Action Summit and future areas of cooperation were also discussed.

    A working session followed by a lunch with the OECD Secretariat also took place to exchange views on the future activities of the Tokyo ESC including the nature of projects related to AI safety after 2025, preparation of the GPAI Annual Plan (workplan 2025), and the organization of the Tokyo Innovation Workshop.
