GPAI Tokyo ESC Delivers Keynote Speech at CEATEC2024 AI Networking Event
On October 17, Mr. SHIBAZAKI Tetsuya, Executive Director of the GPAI Tokyo Experts Support Center Secretariat, delivered a keynote speech at the AI Networking Event held at CEATEC2024. This event was jointly organized by the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA) and the Information-Technology Promotion Agency (IPA), Japan / Japan AI Safety Institute (AISI) to foster mutual understanding among AI-related organizations.
The keynote session began with a presentation by Ms. MURAKAMI Akiko, Executive Director of Japan AISI, introducing the background, activities, and government collaboration of Japan AISI. She emphasized the goal of expanding activities involving private AI organizations.
Following this, Executive Director Shibazaki delivered a presentation titled "Towards GPAI 2.0." He covered the history of GPAI Expert Support Centers established in Montreal, Paris, and Tokyo under the G7 framework, the international trends surrounding AI, and key initiatives of the GPAI Tokyo ESC, such as the SAFE Project and Tokyo Innovation Workshop.
Additionally, Mr. KAWANO Akihiko, Managing Director and CIO of Panasonic Connect Co., Ltd. - a chair company of JEITA and a board member of Generative AI Japan - introduced his company’s AI initiatives.
After the keynote speeches, the representatives from eleven AI-related organizations shared their activities. Among those organizations, the AI Governance Association (AIGA) described its efforts to spread practices for AI risk management and maximizing its value in Japanese society. Generative AI Japan (Gen AI) outlined five key pillars of their activities: sharing and collaboration on advanced technologies, supporting business use cases, fostering co-creation through labs, promoting education, and proposing rules and recommendations for generative AI usage.
