Exploring the Future of AI Governance as a Global Public Good: A Europe-Asia Dialogue Event
On February 8, 2025, the panel discussion "From Oil to Water: Governing AI as a Global Public Good - A Europe-Asia Dialogue" was held in Paris, hosted by the nonprofit organization Asia Society France.
The event featured panelists including Dr. HARAYAMA Yuko, Secretary General of the GPAI Tokyo Expert Support Center; Mr. Abhishek Singh, Secretary of India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology; Mr. Nicolas Miailhe, Co-Founder of PRISM Eval, a Paris-based AI safety evaluation organization focused on LLM Cognitive Science and a GPAI expert from France; Professor Yi Zeng, Founder of the Beijing Institute for AI Safety and Governance (Beijing-AISI) in China; and Ms. Lian Chua, Co-Founder of AI Safety Asia. The discussion was moderated by Mr. Edward Tsui, Co-Founder of AI Safety Asia (AISA).
The panel explored the prospects and challenges of establishing AI governance as a true global public good, covering topics such as the necessity of data sharing, regulatory enforcement, and balancing public and private interests. Dr. Harayama emphasized the role of various international forums in shaping AI governance.
