On January 15-16, 2026, the Hiroshima Global Forum for Trustworthy AI was held in Hiroshima, co-hosted by the Japan AI Safety Institute (AISI) and the Cabinet Office of Japan. Dr. Harayama Yuko, Secretary General of the GPAI Tokyo Expert Support Center, participated in the forum as a speaker. The forum provided an opportunity for domestic and international stakeholders, companies, and international organizations to share the latest developments and initiatives related to AI safety, security, and trustworthiness.
Representing the network of GPAI Expert Support Centers (Tokyo, Paris, and Montreal), Dr. Harayama delivered a presentation entitled “AI for people and progress.” She explained the role of GPAI as a multi-stakeholder expert community that, since 2024, has been working under an integrated partnership with the OECD to bridge policy and practice. She also highlighted how the three centers collaborate to support high-impact projects for the implementation of responsible AI, provide platforms for international dialogue, and strengthen cooperation with AI safety-related institutions worldwide.
In addition, Dr. Harayama introduced applied projects related to AI safety and agentic AI, innovation workshops designed to identify key challenges through expert co-creation and foster new projects, and international initiatives aimed at nurturing the next generation through student communities. The Tokyo Center will continue to work closely with domestic stakeholders and partner centers to advance activities toward the realization of “AI for people and progress.”
