    Report on Participation in the India AI Impact Summit

    The India AI Impact Summit (hereinafter “the Summit”) was held in New Delhi, India, from February 16 to 20, 2026, under the auspices of the Government of India. The Summit marked the first globalーscale AI summit to be held in the Global South, and featured leaders and ministerial-level meetings alongside symposiums, panel sessions and an exhibition. Dr. HARAYAMA Yuko, Secretary General of the GPAI Tokyo Expert Support Center, participated in the Summit along with 3 other staff members from the Tokyo Center, as well as 2 faculty supervisors and one master’s student involved in the Student Communities project.

    On February 16, an official Summit side event titled “Empowering Youth in AI Global Governance” was co-organized by the 3 GPAI Expert Support Centers - Tokyo, Paris, and Montreal - together with CEMCA (Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia), an India-based educational organization. The side event showcased student-led initiatives from each Center focused on the impact of AI on work and society. Among these, the Tokyo Center presented its field research project in which students investigate real-world AI use cases. On February 18, the Mini Innovation Workshop was co-organized by CEMCA and the 3 Centers for students participating in the Student Communities project of each country.     On February 20, the GPAI Council Meeting was held, at which the 3 Centers reported on their respective activities. Secretary General Harayama reported on the Tokyo Center’s GPAI project “Agentic AI,” providing an update on the selection of target companies and the scope of the case study survey currently underway.
