The Second Co-creation Workshop on the OECD "AI Policy Toolkit" was held on March 30-31, 2026, at the Residence of Japan’s Ambassador in Thailand, Bangkok. Supported by the governments of Japan and the United Kingdom, the workshop brought together government officials, AI policymakers, and AI experts from Southeast Asian countries for an introduction to the OECD’s AI Policy Toolkit and an exchange of views toward realising safe, secure, and trustworthy AI. The Centre and NICT’s Universal Communication Research Institute (UCRI) participated in the workshop and delivered presentations on multilingual and multicultural AI.

In a session titled “Multilingual and locally developed LLMs” on March 31, a UCRI representative delivered a presentation titled “Beyond Cultural Barriers: LLMs for Multilingual and Multimodal Processing,” introducing UCRI’s research on multilingual speech translation technologies and multimodal AI. The Centre presented an overview of GPAI and invited participants to upcoming related events.
