- 7 sessions (128,256,512,128,256,512,128) of e-VLBI Experiments were
conducted between Kashima34-Onsala60(20m) baseline.
First three sessions were failed because the telescope
at Onsala was not working with schedules. Also the data transfer
and observation mode mis-matching was caused, i.e. Data were
transfered with 256Mbps with schedule of 128Mbps observation.
After the recovery of telescope at Onsala, session E(256Mbps) and
F(512Mbps) was successful.
Two quick analysis were performed. One was
automatic analysis scheme (analysis core was OCCAM) developed by
T.Hobiger, and the other one was manual analysis with CALC/SOLVE
operated by H.Takiguchi.
- Lessons from the previous
experiment, Minimum SNR was
increased and weak radio sources were excluded in source list
used in automatic scheduling by 'sked'.
- Observation schedule were made by using 'sked' program developed
by NASA/GSFC with setup
Min-SNR=30(X-band),
25(S-band), MAX#Obs,MinTime, MINSCAN=30sec.,
- Clock parameter for each stations (GSP-FMT=): Kashima(-1.0us),
Onsala(25.7us)
- By using the
SNR plot of former experiments, 1417+385,1044+719, and
0602+673, were excluded from source list.
- Sessions: U8189A, B, C, and D were
Failed because of two reasons.
- Onsala station was operated without attending a
operator. But the FS9 system was stopped due to trouble and
the telescope has not been tracking radio sources.
- $CODE entry of the schedule file format might not be appropriate
for the intended observation mode. The data was sent out by
256Mbps where 128Mbps mode was intended.
- Session: U8189E,F
- These two observations were successful.
- Fringe were detected successfully for almost all scans.
Quick analysis was performed. Processing Latency was as
follows:
Code | Mode | Software |
OCCAM(Automatic) | CALC/Solve(Manual) |
u8189e | 256Mbps | 29 min. |
1h40m |
u8189f | 512Mbps |
1h46m | 2h16m |
OCCAM was modified for automatic iterative processing by
T.Hobiger.
CALC/SOLVE analysis was performed by H.Takiguchi.
- Clock parameter were Onsala-Kashima = -25 us for
256Mbps, and
-33.14us for 512Mbps, respectively.
The clock difference of 8 us will be due to
timing offset of Mark4/Mark5 Formatter.
- Format data conversion was performed by different PC from
the PC receiving the data from Onsala via Tsunami.
The data was shared with NFS system and converted from Mk5
to K5. Although there were not significant improvement in
processing speed even increasing the number of running task
for conversion.
The conversion software itself might have to be improved.
