What is GPAI?
( The Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence)

Overview of GPAI

  • The Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) is a multi-stakeholder initiative launched in June 2020 that brings together leading experts from science, industry, civil society, governments, international organizations and academia that share values to bridge the gap between theory and practice on AI by supporting cutting-edge research and applied activities on AI-related priorities.
  • Built around a shared commitment to the OECD Recommendation on Artificial Intelligence (OECD Principles on AI), GPAI brings together engaged minds and expertise to foster international cooperation.
  • GPAI aims to provide a mechanism for sharing multidisciplinary research and identifying key issues among AI practitioners, by facilitating international collaboration and acting as a global reference point for AI issues, and ultimately promoting trust in and the adoption of trustworthy AI.
  • Currently, 46 countries and regions are participating in GPAI (as of April 2026): Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union.
