Low latency, ultra-multi-connected wireless 'STABLE'
‘STABLE’*1 is a superior communications technology that simultaneously achieves 5G’s ‘super-multiple connections’ and ‘low latency’ and improves frequency utilization efficiency by more than double.
There is an anecdote that Prince Umayado (later known as Prince Shotoku) once ‘listened to a large number of people talking simultaneously, understood them all at once, and gave an accurate reply’. STABLE base stations can process signals sent simultaneously from lots of terminals using the same frequency in less than 4 milliseconds.
Thinking like this, it is true that STABLE can really be considered similar to Prince Umayado; it instantly listens and responds to requests sent from lots of terminals all at the same time.
STABLE is a technology that aims to achieve smooth communications in applications requiring low latency; such as the remote controls of self-driving cars, machine tools, robots, and drones, by using Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) servers at base stations.
*1 STABLE: Simultaneous Transmission Access Boosting Low-latency.
The name for STABLE comes from the English word of the same spelling that means ‘a building set apart and adapted for horses’. It was chosen as the name for this technology as it can handle communications simultaneously between a base station with a number of devices; like Prince Umayado, who is believed to have been born in front of a stable.
